2 Motorcyclists Ejected, Killed In I-78 Crash In Berkeley Heights
BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ — Two men were killed on Sunday night after they were ejected from their motorcycles following a crash on Interstate 78 in Berkeley Heights, said New Jersey State Police(NJSP) Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron.On June 2 at 6:06 p.m., NJSP troopers were called to a crash on I-78 east milepost 42.8 in Berkeley Heights Township.Based on a preliminary investigation, a Lexus SUV, Honda passenger vehicle, BMW motorcycle, and Suzuki motorcycle were driving eastbound on I-78. In the area of milepost 42.8, the BMW motorcycle hit the back of the Honda, subsequently causing the Suzuki motorcycle to hit the back of the BMW, said Lebron.The BMW motorcycle then crashed with the Lexus, ran off the roadway, and hit a traffic sign. Both the BMW motorcycle and Suzuki motorcycle overturned, resulting in the ejection of both drivers, said Lebron.The driver of the BMW, Sherman Bardouille, a 31-year-old man from Irvington, and the driver of the Suzuki, Tamir Lee, a 42-year-old man from Newark, sustained fatal injuries. There were no other injuries reported. The crash remains under investigation, and there is no additional information available at this time.Have a news tip?
