His Kids Are Furious With Him For Selling His Late Wife’s Special Cake Recipe To A Bakery
Very sadly, this man’s wife passed away three years ago. They did have two children together, who were in their late 20s at the time of his wife’s passing.
In the years since he lost his wife, things have been hard on him, and now that his kids are no longer living at home, it’s even more difficult than he could have imagined.
Now, his wife used to always make him a wonderful dark chocolate cherry cake.
“It was my favorite thing that she would make, and I always requested it for Father’s Day,” he explained.
“I am a [terrible] baker, and I have tried to remake it from her notes. The notes are not very clear, and it never turns out correct. It is depressing spending so much time and it being wrong.”
“I have asked my two kids to try and make it but they have refused to. I was told that they will not figure out the recipe and to stop asking. I went to a local bakery and asked for them to figure it out.”
The bakery said that they would be happy to figure out the recipe, as his wife wrote down ingredients but not exact measurements, so it was a tough act to follow.
The bakery had one single request for him, though: if they could figure out his wife’s recipe, they wanted the ability to sell her cake in their store.
Luckily, the bakery ironed out his wife’s recipe in a flash, and they made it for him to taste. Their recipe is essentially an exact replica of his wife’s. They also were happy to give him a copy of their recipe.

“I bought one for Father’s Day, and my kids were happy about the cake until I told them the bakery did it,” he said.
His kids were furious with him for selling their mom’s recipe to the bakery to use. Remember, he asked his kids to try to figure it out, but they brushed him off, saying they didn’t have the energy or time to invest in the task.
His kids are livid that a random person they don’t personally know is now making their mom’s beloved cake and profiting off it.
He doesn’t agree with them, as he’s just thrilled to be able to taste his wife’s incredible cake again.
Throughout the last week, his kids have been calling him a jerk over the cake recipe, so he’s beginning to wonder if they’re right.
His only motive was to have a bite of his wife’s chocolate cherry cake once more. What do you think?

Here’s the actual recipe for you below in case you want to recreate his wife’s special cake:
Ingredients:
1 cup of almost boiling water
3/4 cup Dutch cocoa powder
1 3/4 cups white sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
3 whole large eggs
2/3 cup sour cream (the fatty one)
2/3 melted butter or oil
1/2 cup cherry juice (not one with added sugar)
1/4 cup milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 3/4 cups baking flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups of maraschino cherries
Directions:
Water and cocoa are mixed together in a bowl. In another bowl, the sugar, oil, and eggs are mixed together. It then gets strained, so it is smooth.
Add the sour cream, cherry juice (his wife always noted to add as much of this as you like), milk, and vanilla to the same bowl. Add the water when it is cool to the bowl.
Add in the flour, baking soda, and salt. Cut cherries in half and put in batter. The batter goes into a cake pan and is cooked at 350 until the toothpick comes clean.
