North Penn, NFL Star Brandon McManus Released After Assault Charges
LANSDALE, PA — The Washington Commanders have released Towamencin Township native and former North Penn High School star Brandon McManus, who has been accused by two women of sexual assault. McManus, who won Super Bowl 50 with the Denver Broncos as their placekicker and has been a mainstay in the NFL for 11 years, committed the assaults on airline stewardesses on the team's flight back from London on Sept 28, 2023, according to court documents. McManus tried to kiss one of the women, and grinded and rubbed against both while they were trying to work, according to the Associated Press. They are seeking $1 million in damages. McManus's lawyer told AP that the charges were false. “While we are disappointed with the team’s decision to release Brandon before he had the opportunity to defend against these fabricated claims, we will aggressively defend and clear Brandon’s name and reputation through the legal process," attorney Brett Gallaway said in a statement. "We intend to defeat these claims, fully exonerate him and look forward to seeing him back on the field where he belongs."After a star studded career at North Penn, the 32-year-old McManus went on to play at Temple University before beginning his NFL career in 2013.
