1 Dead In Fiery Tractor-Trailer Crash In New Haven: Reports
NEW HAVEN, CT — A man died Saturday following a fiery early-morning crash in New Haven, according to multiple reports citing fire officials. The crash occurred overnight when a tractor-trailer collided with a car on Route 80 near Interstate 91 and Middletown Avenue, WTNH reported. The trailer, which was filled with compacted cardboard, then caught fire, NBC Connecticut reported. Firefighters worked for hours to extinguish the flames, the report said. The man driving the car was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital where he later died, reports said. His identity was not released.The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured. The Exit 8 off-ramps on both the north and southbound sides of Interstate 91 were closed Saturday morning as officials worked to clear the scene, Fox 61 reported.
