After being run over by a snowcat at his home in Nevada, on 2023 New Year’s Day, Jeremy Renner was left with 30 broken bones and metal plates in his face, which caused him to undergo months of recovery. However, after getting back to normal, Renner returned to shoot season 3 of Mayor of Kingstown, when he experienced strange feelings surrounding the idea of the show.

Following Jeremy Renner‘s brutal snowplow accident that occurred in January, the actor underwent immediate surgery and spent several weeks in recovery, undergoing extensive physical therapy. One year after his accident, as Jeremy Renner returned to action, he was called in to shoot the third season of the hit 2021 Paramount show Mayor of Kingstown. The show’s co-creator Hugh Dillion had to get permission from Renner’s mother for him to return to set. And once he was there, the actor told the LA Times about being met with some strange feelings.

To try to create some truth and then get the audience to believe it, while I’m just trying to learn to walk again, to put one foot in front of the other and not get up in agony. I’m doing all these things to find my footing on the planet again. The idea of going into a fictional world – I have to be honest with you, I had to really consider, Is this something I really want to do?
Jeremy Renner mentioned feeling overwhelmed with the idea of returning to a fictional world while undergoing very real physical obstacles. Harboring doubts about whether he wanted to make people believe in a fictional world while he was suffering and trying to learn to walk in real life, Renner mentioned feeling hesitant to return.

Well, not just emotional and psychological challenges, but Jeremy Renner also faced physical challenges during his return to shoot Mayor of Kingstown. Speaking with the outlet, the actor mentioned that after navigating the overwhelming thoughts during production, he started facing other challenges like sometimes falling asleep while filming a scene.

They go, ‘And action!’ And I was out. We realized they worked me too hard, too many hours, too many days in a row. What I’m willing to do is everything, but what I’m able to do is a different thing.
Realizing that the schedule was getting hectic for him, Jeremy Renner revealed how the show producers worked with him to find a schedule that accommodated his needs. Even Renner mentioned staying back in Pittsburgh throughout most of the four-month production, in order to avoid additional stress from jet lag.

However, despite the obstacles, the MCU actor continued to remain positive and push through hurdles to deliver outstanding performances. Meanwhile, it’s only a matter of time until season 3 of Mayor of Kingstown premieres on June 2, 2024, and meets with widespread critical acclaim.
