Reality TV newbie Kelli Ferrell isn’t playing about collecting what she’s owed.
Reports state that the Real Housewives of Atlanta newcomer successfully motioned a court judge to hold her ex-husband in contempt over back child support payments, resulting in him spending time behind bars.

According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Kelli Ferrell accused her ex-husband Chuvalo Mark Ferrell of repeatedly “intentionally and spitefully” refusing to make court ordered child support payments following their 2022 divorce. Due to this, she asked the court to throw him in jail until he was ready to comply. The couple married in 2011 and share three children together, daughter Chance and twins Chasiti and Chelsi. Kelli Ferrell also has another daughter named Chloe from a previous relationship.
In her motion, the restaurant owner wrote that despite reaching a parenting plan with Chuvalo in 2023, which left her with primary physical custody and shared joint legal custody, her ex has not been paying the mandated $626 a month in child support and $1,500 in other care expenses. Kelli alleged that her former spouse missed payments for November and December 2023 as well as January of this year, resulting in her first successful attempt at Chuvalo being thrown in jail. Reportedly, a judge held him in contempt over the matter and he was taken into police custody on January 12th.

Chuvalo’s prison stint apparently didn’t inspire change, however. Kelli furthered that he continued his streak of missed payments, adding February – June of 2024 to his list of missed months. Her lawyers wrote in the document:
“[Chuvalo’s] foregoing persistent and habitual refusals to abide and respect this court’s order, and other misconduct, [Chuvalo] has persistently shown utter distain, disrespect and disregard of the authority of this court, and intentionally and recklessly refused to comply with the court’s temporary order, and such refusal is habitually, willful, intentional, wanton, oppressive and designed to annoy and financially injure [Kelli]”,
Kelli’s lawyers again motioned for Chuvalo to be held in contempt until he pays his latest debt, as well as her $7,500 legal fees. A judge ruled on August 7th that Chuvalo be remanded in police custody and jailed until he pays the owed $14,889. Records reportedly showed that he was released on August 14 after posting the nearly $15,000 bond. While it doesn’t appear that either Kelli nor Chuvalo have addressed the matter publicly, his lawyers did release a statement on his behalf that read:
“Mr. Ferrell appreciates the interest in his ongoing personal matters, but he is committed to focusing on his family and professional responsibilities during this challenging time.”
They added:
“It is important to note that the details surrounding his divorce from Kelli Potter-Ferrell are complex and sensitive. Mr. Ferrell has consistently sought to resolve these issues amicably and in the best interests of all parties involved, particularly their children.”
