Coronation Street icon Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) has made a huge breakthrough in Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) murder case, which could end up freeing Roy Cropper (David Neilson).
Roy is currently in prison after being wrongfully charged with Lauren’s murder, and Dee-Dee is on a mission to prove his innocence.
In recent scenes, Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) got into the solicitors office under false pretences, determined to find out more information about Lauren’s O-Vidz messages, having found out that abuser Nathan Curtis (Chris Harper) was subscribed to her account.
However, she wasn’t quite as careful as she thought, and Dee-Dee soon confronted her for going through confidential files.

Since learning that he had been released from prison, Bethany suspected that Nathan had something to do with Lauren’s disappearance, and was determined to prove that she was right.
Bethany argued that she wasn’t sorry, before revealing to Carla Connor (Alison King) and Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) that she had looked through Nathan’s phone.
As Nina pointed out that Nathan and Roy were polar opposites, Dee-Dee explained that she had contacted an expert in order to get a forensic analysis of the texts to prove that Roy hadn’t sent them.

When Bethany pointed out that Roy would never misspell the word ‘discreet’, Dee-Dee reminded her that she had trained a long time for her job, and wasn’t going to leave any stone unturned.
Later, Dee-Dee met with DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) at the station, where she argued that Roy definitely didn’t send those messages, pointing out that he was meticulous when it came to spellings and grammar.

While DS Swain could see where the lawyer was coming from, she pointed out that it just wasn’t strong enough evidence to prove Roy’s innocence.
When Dee-Dee explained about the expert she’d contacted, DS Swain urged her to keep her in the loop, and Dee-Dee promised that she would be the first to know.
Will the expert be able to prove Roy’s innocence?
