How Kamala Harris' Approval Rating Compares to Donald Trump's
resident Joe Biden's announcement that he will not seek a second term in the White House has focused attention on Vice President Kamala Harris, who he has endorsed to be the Democratic presidential nominee, and how she would perform in an electoral contest against Donald Trump.
Recent polling indicates both Harris and Trump have negative approval ratings, although there is quite a bit of variation between pollsters over their exact figures. The most recent analysis of contemporary polling by election website FiveThirtyEight, released on July 17, showed Harris had a net approval rating of -11.8, with 38.6 percent of those surveyed approving of her performance and 50.4 percent disapproving.
On July 21 FiveThirtyEight polling analysis gave Trump a net approval rating of -12, making him slightly more unpopular than Harris, with 41.7 percent viewing him favorably and 53.7 percent unfavorably. There was some variation in the surveys FiveThirtyEight examined for both Trump and Harris as to whether it was registered voters or all U.S. adults who were polled.
A survey of 1,404 registered voters conducted between July 13 and 16 by YouGov for The Economist found 39 percent approved of Harris's performance, against 51 percent who disapproved, giving a net approval of -12. The same poll gave Trump an overall approval rating of -9, with 54 percent viewing him unfavorably and 45 percent favorably.
Pollster HarrisX polled 1,918 registered voters for Forbes between July 13 to 15 giving Harris a net approval rating of -15, with 39 percent approval against 54 percent disapproval. This survey gave Trump an overall disapproval of -9, giving him a significant lead, with 43 percent viewing him favorably whilst 52 percent viewed him unfavorably.

An Ipsos poll of 992 registered voters conducted for Reuters on July 15 and 16 found 44 percent had a favorable view of Trump, against 54 percent who looked at the Republican candidate unfavorably, giving a net favorability rating of -10.
