Hudson County Man Offered To Pay Someone To Kill Woman: Prosecutors
HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A North Bergen man has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder after allegedly offering money to someone to kill a woman he knew, prosecutors said Friday.Miguel Cortes, 37, was charged with the first-degree crime after he was arrested this past Thursday, May 14, outside his home on Paterson Plank Road, said the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.Prosecutors said that on Thursday, May 9, 2024, "The North Bergen Police Department received a tip of a possible murder-for-hire scheme. The investigation found the defendant offered money to another individual to murder a female known to Cortes." The intended victim was not injured, prosecutors said.Cortes was taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
