Why Did Gurugram Crash Happen? SUV Driver Was Taking 'Shortcut' To 'Save Time'

Gurugram: A driver of a Mahindra XUV 300 was going the wrong way on Golf Course Road in Gurugram when he crashed into a motorbike, leading to the death of a 22-year old boy. The driver told police he was trying to "save time" by driving on the wrong side. The accident occurred on Golf Course Road in the DLF Phase-II area on September 15.Visuals from an action camera mounted on the motorcycle of Garg's friend became widely circulated on social media on Thursday. The video purports to show Garg riding his motorcycle at high speed. He is seen taking a slight turn when the Mahindra XUV 3XO suddenly appears from the wrong side and collides head-on with his motorcycle.“I want to make a request to the victim’s family that Gurugram Police is taking action as per legal procedure. However, if the victim’s family still wants to know more information in this matter or if they have doubts related to the investigation, then I request them to come and meet us. We will make them aware of all the actions that we took in the case and try to satisfy their worries,” DLF Gurugram ACP, Vikas Kaushik told news agency ANI. As an impact of Times Now's coverage of the Gurugram accident case, the city police has decided to add more stringent sections of BNS in the FIR against the accused. Investigation shows that the accused was not having a driving licence so more sections will be added. If investigation finds that the accused was driving with wrong intention then death due to negligence sections can also be added based on the investigation findings.DLF Phase-II SHO Sandeep Kumar on Friday said the driver of the Mahindra XUV 3XO was arrested and later released on bail. However, speaking to NDTV, Garg's mother questioned the bail granted to the driver."I want justice for my son. A person in the wrong killed my son. My only question is why was he released on bail? My son has gone but he (the accused) slept peacefully that night'' Why are the police not helping us?" she asked. The high-speed collision threw Garg off his motorcycle and wrecked the front of the SUV. SHO Kumar said an FIR was registered on the basis of a complaint by one Pradhuman, a friend of the victim, under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.Garg's body was handed over to his kin after a post-mortem."The family of the victim has not approached us to add any additional charge in the case yet," Kumar said.
