I’m A Celebrity star Shaun Ryder has admitted he once took drugs inside someone’s coffin – but was too high to remember it.
The 61-year-old said the ‘wild’ night happened when he flew to Brazil with his band Happy Mondays to perform at the Rock in Rio festival in 1991.
The 80s rock band had a drug-fuelled time in the South American country with Shaun admitting the partying started ‘before we got off the plane.’
One evening in Rio, Shaun said that he apparently snorted cocaine inside a random person’s coffin at a funeral.
He recalled to The Sun: ‘I only know this as I was told about it. Apparently there was a funeral there and I got in a coffin, but I don’t remember that.
‘They say that I jumped into it, lay down, and started snorting coke. I don’t remember that.’

Shaun previously recalled another drug bender during which he was too out of it to remember a gun being fired on a night out.
He said he woke up the following day in a basement sandwiched between two naked waitresses, with a gun next to him which had been fired three times.
Shaun told the Daily Star: ‘I remember where the gun came from, but there was three bullets missing from the chamber, and I haven’t a f***ing clue where the bullets ended up.’
The singer famously battled with drug addiction throughout his career, with his heroin habit leading to the break-up of the Happy Mondays.

However, he has now been drug-free for 20 years.
Shaun previously said his drug of choice at the time was the tranquiliser temazepam – and it totally warped his sense of time.
He told the Daily Star: ‘That three years from 1995 to 1998, looking back, just doesn’t make sense time-wise.
‘When we came out the other side, it was actually three years later and we were like, “Where have we been for the last three years?”’
Shaun credited cycling with helping him to quit drugs.

He said: ‘It was cycling that got me off drugs. I’d get on my bike very early in the morning and keep cycling until very late at night, day after day, until it was out of the system.
‘I was pedalling from 8am until 11pm. But once that’s done, you still have to deal with the mental stuff.’
Shaun first appeared on I’m A Celebrity in 2010 and was runner-up to Queen of the Jungle Stacey Solomon.
He later appeared in the all-stars spin-off, I’m A Celebrity South Africa, in 2023 and was the first to be eliminated along with Gillian McKeith.
I’m A Celebrity is available to stream on ITVX.
