Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi ‘Having to Go to Extreme Measures’ to Care for Chicken Flock
Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi are completely devoted to the flock of chickens they’ve been raising, but their chicklings are starting to test their patience as the couple can barely get any sleep due to the constant clucking.
“They go to sleep with the sounds of chickens in their ears and wake up to it, and it’s not just Ellen and Portia who are being disturbed at all hours, neighbors are complaining, too,” a source exclusively tells In Touch.
“Ellen and Portia love them because they are cute, but they’re also wondering if having chickens as pets was such a good idea. That’s why they’re giving away eggs and chickens – it’s become way too much for them.”
What Is Comedian Ellen DeGeneres Doing Now? 2024 Life Update
A surprising recipient of one injured chick that was being bullied by Ellen’s flock was little Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, the 4-year-old son of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who has adorably taken to keeping chickens around their house in a coop he named Archie’s Chick Inn.
There have been no reports of the Sussexes complaining about their own chicken family, but according to the source, Ellen’s beloved birds are driving her batty.
“They’re having to go to extreme measures to coyote-proof the cages, and the vet bills are enormous. The staff don’t particularly like cleaning up after them either, especially since Ellen and Portia can’t resist letting them in the house and the flighty fowl leave droppings everywhere.”
Embattled Ellen, 66, has had a lot more free time on her hands to give to her chicks since The Ellen DeGeneres Show ended its 19-year run in May 2022. While the long-time presenter said she chose to wind the show down in 2021, many speculated the decision came as a result of a bombshell series of accusations from 10 former employees who said that she created a “toxic” workplace on set through an atmosphere of “racism, fear, and intimidation.”
In response to the allegations, Ellen vowed to leave show business for good once her contractual obligations were up and her upcoming Netflix special was released.
A second source previously dished to In Touch that 61-time Daytime Emmy winner “is still angry and she’s had enough.”
“Her final comedy special is the last time anyone will see her in the public eye. She’s given so much to others, spreading joy and laughter. Now, it’s time for Ellen to focus on herself and live away from the spotlight. After this, we will never see Ellen again!” that source said.
Celebrities React to Claims of Ellen DeGeneres’ ‘Toxic’ Workplace
Whether or not Ellen eventually returns to the spotlight remains to be seen, as a different source has stated that the Netflix special she had mentioned in her promise to leave the industry for good was actually an attempt to get back into the good graces of her fans, saying her jokes about her possibly having obsessive compulsive disorder and attention deficit disorder were actually “a clinical grab for attention.”
The stand up special, titled For Your Approval, had fans gawking at the disgraced television staple’s nerve as she struck a completely unapologetic tone throughout.
