“This is the best way”: Hidetaka Miyazaki on Stepping Away as Game Director after Praising the Only Soulslike He Left for Bloodborne
Dark Souls remains one of the most iconic franchises for FromSoftware and the whole Dark Fantasy genre, giving it the push forward and bringing in more players than ever. However, while most of the credit is delivered to Hidetaka Miyazaki, the second installment of the franchise was in reality directed by someone else.
Darks Souls 2 was not directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki
The video game series’ importance can not be stated in words. Still, it can be instead understood by realizing how it managed to build a perfect bridge for Miyazaki, allowing him to gain his much-deserved fame and leave behind a legacy that matters.

It has always been questioned by fans why the director decided to step away from the second installment in his beloved series, despite the release being a deciding factor in which way the future titles will be headed next.

Talking about why handing off projects like these helps develop other aspiring members of the team, Hidetaka Miyazaki in an interview via IGN stated the following-
I think it’s very likely that we’ll see new directors going forward. And I think if we do that, I’d like to step away from that supervisory role and give them full direction and full control over those projects. I think really this is the best way and the easiest way for them to flourish within that environment and with those new projects
Miyazaki essentially reveals how in the coming times we are most likely to witness more directors assume control of projects instead of him. The same was the case with DS 2, and he mentions how full control over these titles allows them to ‘flourish‘ and develop the skills needed to make it big in the gaming industry.

The director was working on Bloodborne when the time for Dark Souls 2 came around
Apart from giving a chance to up-and-coming directors to work their magic, it is common knowledge how Miyazaki was ultimately focusing on creating Bloodborne. The title remains a cult classic in the dark fantasy genre of video games and was unfortunately released exclusively for PlayStation back in 2015.SUGGESTED“We have been in training mode all along”: A Terrifying Helldivers 2 Revelation is Enough to Give You Brutal PTSD
In an interview, the popular director has also revealed out of all the games he has created, Bloodborne remains the one closest to his heart. He states how he was able to make the game to his own accord, and in the way he wanted it to be, making it stay in his heart forever.
