4 Nitrous Oxide Bottles, Cash Stolen From Shop: Northbrook PD Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.ARRESTSREVOKED DRIVER'S LICENSEErica S. Diaz, of Chicago, is accused of driving while license revoked, failure to dim high beam lights in traffic, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 1:38 a.m. May 4, at Dundee and Portwine roads. A court date of May 21 was assigned. Marydelly Montoya of Zion, is accused of unlawful use of an electronic device while driving, driving while license revoked, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 2:36 p.m. May 6, in the 900 block of Dundee Road. A court date of May 24 was assigned. RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLEYahosubia M. Craig, of Chicago, is accused of criminal trespass to a vehicle, and was arrested at 10:56 a.m. May 6, in the 4200 block of Lake Cook Road. Police said Craig had been in an argument with his girlfriend prior to taking the car, which belongs to her. The girlfriend called the Chicago Police Department. A court date of May 29 was assigned. AGGRAVATED UNLAWFUL USE OF A WEAPONPolice saw a black Honda at 9:42 p.m. May 6, driving with a defective headlight at Waukegan Road and Kiest Avenue. Police stopped the car and talked to the driver, Diego Arroyo, of Chicago. There were two passengers in the car, Jesus Castro, of Chicago, and Jovanny Arroyo, of Wheeling. The officer said they could smell a strong odor of alcohol and cannabis coming from inside the vehicle. The officer also reportedly saw an open bottle of beer on the center console. When the officer asked if there was anything else illegal inside the vehicle, Jovanny Arroyo said he had a loaded .45 caliber handgun next to him. Jovanny Arroyo had an additional loaded handgun magazine in his pocket and did not have a valid FOID card. During a search of the vehicle, the officer found more beer bottles throughout the interior. Diego Arroyo was charged with having a defective headlight, illegal transportation of alcohol. Jesus Castro was charged with illegal transportation of alcohol. Jovanny Arroyo was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. A court date of May 28 was assigned for all three. LAST WEEK'S BLOTTER: Scammer Drains $5K Out Of Savings Accounts — Northbrook Police BlotterINCIDENTSTHEFT AND FRAUDA complainant reported at 9:26 p.m. May 3, they had shopped at a clothing store in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard earlier in the day. She said never purchased anything while in the store and drove home. She received an alert from her credit card company indicating someone was attempting to purchase $2,200 worth of product from another store with that credit card. The woman then checked her purse and noticed her wallet was stolen. The complainant said she had her driver's license, credit cards and cash inside the stolen wallet. When the officer arrived at the original store to obtain surveillance footage of the theft, he found the wallet in the garbage just outside the store. Most everything was recovered except the credit card and cash. BURGLARYA witness arrived at work in the 2800 block of Dundee Road at 5:35 a.m. May 4, and noticed a neighboring business had its front display window smashed. Officers did not find any offenders inside. The owners of the tobacco/vape store said the surveillance footage showed a male smashing the window earlier in the evening, taking four nitrous oxide bottles and cash out of the register before fleeing the area. FLEEING AND ELUDINGPolice saw a blue sedan driving westbound at 1:37 a.m. May 9, at Dundee Road and Skokie Boulevard. The license plate information indicated that the owner had an active arrest warrant. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled at a high rate of speed westbound into Wheeling after the officer terminated the traffic stop.IDENTITY THEFTA Kayjay Drive resident reported at 4:24 p.m May 9, someone had illegally accessed her American Airlines flight rewards account. Several points were deducted from the account to purchase nine different flights for various subjects throughout the world. The complainant only received limited information from American Airlines and could not say where the flights originated from or the destination.
