Her Mom’s Threatening To Skip Her Wedding If Her Dad’s Girlfriend Is Invited
Back when this 29-year-old woman was 7, her mom and dad split up, and they didn’t handle their divorce well.
Her parents spent the next couple of years negatively talking about one another to her and her siblings. They even got into a public argument on the street once, which humiliated her.
Her mom was the one who struggled the most, though, as her dad cheated on her. Her mom has a very volatile personality, to begin with, and tends to explode while hurting everyone in the process.
But underneath it all, she knows her mom worked her heart out to provide for her and her two siblings as a single mom.
“[I] never doubted that she loved us, but if something negative happened (school related especially), she would scream and cry for hours, going from, “I’m such a bad mother” to saying hurtful stuff and what she’s all doing for us (my dad couldn’t provide that time, it was rough),” she explained.
“Years later (I’m now 29), we have a good relationship, she apologized (now married for years), my father apologized, and after I found the best person on earth who was even willing to work with me on of those issues I eventually got as a child of divorce, we got engaged, and I will marry soon formally (Wedding party will be in 2026).”
Currently, her mom and dad have reached a place where they can be peaceful around one another.
But a decade ago, her dad got a new girlfriend named Poppy, who she thinks is sweet, intelligent, and hilarious.
Poppy is from her dad’s hometown, and Poppy really brought her dad out of his shell. Poppy used to be best friends with her mom, but 7 years ago, that all blew up.

Poppy allegedly told her mom that she and her siblings had said bad things about her, such as that she acted crazy and screamed at them.
Poppy also added that nobody liked her mom and thought she was insane. Her mom felt like she and her siblings had stabbed her in the back after that.
While her mom isn’t the most stable person, she’s never been one to lie, so when she recounted the story about how she and Poppy fell out, she believed her mom.
Adding to that, Poppy is pretty much a troublemaker and pot-stirrer who has done some shady things over the years.
In the past, Poppy attempted to trick her brother into giving her money and made her hand over her dad’s iPad password so she could remove her dad from their family group chat that had her mom in it.
She isn’t close to Poppy and only sees her when she spends time with her dad and her dad happens to FaceTime her (her dad and Poppy have a long-distance relationship).
Looking back, perhaps Poppy hasn’t been that kind after all and more likely faked being nice to her.
Circling back to her upcoming wedding, her mom just told her that she’s not going to come unless Poppy isn’t invited.
She discussed this with her mom and her brothers, too, but her mom won’t budge. Her mom’s only coming to the wedding under that one condition, and she can’t blame her mom.
While she understands her mom’s position, she’s just furious that her parents and Poppy can’t come together on one single day of her life and behave.
“After all those years of mental torture from my distanced father, who still can’t properly show affection most of the time to my emotionally draining mother, I’m so [angry] that after all they put my brothers and me through they can’t just do this one thing for me and be civil for 1 day,” she said.
“I’m no bridezilla, but I think everyone understands when I want this to be about my fiancé and me, a day with our loved ones (they don’t contribute money wise, by the way). I will go talk to my dad, but I don’t even know how to tell him what my mom said… I’m tired of this and don’t know what to do.”
