The couple was in the vehicle when an assailant fired several shots into the car’s passenger-side window. The unnamed man passed away at the crime scene, which was identified as a location on East Sahara Avenue.
The victims were located by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) officers at about 1:40 a.m. Tuesday. The woman, who suffered non-life-threatening injuries, was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
As of late Tuesday, LVMPD homicide officers were still searching for the suspect, but have yet to release a description of the shooter or a motive for the shooting.
The deceased man will likely undergo an autopsy by the Clark County coroner’s office, which will identify the cause and manner of death and confirm the victim’s identity.
Baby Left Alone at Hotel
A couple was arrested last week after they left a baby alone in a Bally’s Atlantic City hotel room, authorities said.
Jequan Campbell and Teeah McCall, both of North Carolina, were charged with endangering the welfare of a child after a housekeeper discovered the baby in a crib on Friday night. No one else was in the room at the time, police said.
The housekeeper went to the room to drop off some items at about 9 p.m. When no one answered the door, she entered the room and discovered the child asleep in a crib. The housekeeper alerted hotel security who contacted Atlantic City police officers.
The adults were in the gaming property’s casino when the child was discovered, according to Atlantic City radio station WPG.
The incident was reported to the New Jersey Department of Child Protection & Permanency.
Campbell, 33, also was carrying a gun at the time he was apprehended, and was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of hollow-point ammunition, according to BreakingAC.com.
He was booked at the Atlantic County Justice Facility. McCall was released from custody on a summons to appear in local court.
