Fairfield's Charter Revision Commission Organizational Meeting Monday
FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield's new Charter Revision Commission will hold its first organizational meeting Monday in the first floor Conference Room in Independence Hall in the Town Hall complex on Old Post Road. The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and can be viewed in-person or virtually via Zoom; click here for the agenda.Members of the new commission are:Jane K. Biagini (D) Daniel M. Blanco (U)Christopher W. DeWitt (R) Mary L. Hogue (U) Brian L. McCann (R) Gerard McEnery (D) Eric N. Treschuk (D) Karen P. Wackerman (D) First Selectman Bill Gerber has a list of 16 items that he believes should be reviewed and updated in the 71-page Town Charter. The Charter is the Town’s constitution, and as such, is the cornerstone of local governance. State law requires that municipalities update their Charter every ten years. Fairfield’s last Charter revision was in 2006, nearly 18 years ago. An omnibus question failed at the ballot box in 2022.
