Victoria’s Secret and Bath & Body Works handing out $15 coupons – but you must meet two criteria to score the discount

Plaintiffs accused Victoria’s Secret and Bath & Body Works of violating the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act.
The brands allegedly provided receipts at their stores and PINK, owned by Victoria’s Secret, with more than five digits of some customers’ credit or debit card numbers, per the suit.
Victoria’s Secret and Bath & Body Works have denied they committed any wrongdoing or illegal action.
Each agreed to a settlement to resolve the claims and avoid further legal costs.
Shoppers affected by the alleged breach of the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act can now claim up to a $15 coupon or voucher as a result of the deal.
The voucher can be used at Victoria’s Secret, Bath & Body Works, or PINK toward any piece of merchandise, per a press release.
ELIGIBILITY
Prospective claimants need only meet two crucial criteria to qualify for a $15 voucher.
First, they must’ve purchased an item at Victoria’s Secret, Bath & Body Works, or PINK between May 10, 2021, and August 8, 2021.
They must also have gotten a printed receipt after the transaction.
A copy of the printed receipt is not required to file a claim.
There’s also an exception for customers who made purchases during the time frame and used a Victoria’s Secret or Bath & Body Works brand credit card.
They do not have to file a claim to get a discount.
An automatic $5.00 voucher will be awarded to their account.
Those who made purchases on a debit or credit card not tied to either brand and do nothing will forfeit their chance at the $15 voucher.
What's a class-action settlement?
Class action lawsuits offer groups of people, or 'classes,' a way to band together in court.
These suits are often brought by one or a few people who allege a company or other entity has wronged a large group of people.
When a suit becomes a class action, it extends to all “class members,” or people who may have similar complaints to those who filed the suit.
Companies often settle class actions – offering payment to class members who typically waive their right to pursue further legal action by accepting money.
These payout agreements frequently include statements by the defendant denying wrongdoing. Companies tend to settle class actions to avoid the costs of further litigation.
Pollution, discrimination, or false advertising are a few examples of what can land a class action on a company’s doorstep.
FILING A CLAIM
Claims can be filed online through the settlement website created for the case or mail it in to an address listed for the class administrator.
Some customers may have already gotten an email with a Claim ID they can enter.
Others can request a Claim ID and then fill out their form.
A deadline to file a claim online or by mail is set for July 16, 2024.
Customers last chance to object or exclude themselves from the settlement is on July 1.
A final approval hearing for the settlement will take place on October 24.
It’s unclear exactly when the vouchers will be distributed afterward.
Other retailers have also reached settlement deals after class action lawsuits were filed against them in recent months.
Walmart recently decided it would settle for $45 million and send out $500 payments to some customers.
Walgreens is also set to give some Americans one-time distributions of $918.
