Bo Davis stacks up defensive linemen for LSU official visits
LSU is in need of defensive linemen this recruiting cycle and defensive line coach Bo Davis is stacking up his official visitors for the summer. Ahead of the first official visit weekend for the Tigers, we break down the official visitors coming in.
4-star Texas DL commit Brandon Brown: Brown committed to Davis at Texas without visiting with anyone else on the Longhorns’ staff. The relationship is strong here and Brown made his way to LSU for the spring game. The push from Davis is a strong one and the Tigers are looking to flip the South Florida standout to really kick start the defensive tackle spot. He’s set to arrive this weekend for his official visit with trips to Tennessee, Texas and USC on deck as well.
4-star DL Zion Williams: This battle in East Texas could be shaping up as an LSU-Texas battle for the four-star prospect out of Lufkin. Once again, Davis has recruited Williams for quite some time. TCU has already hosted him for an official visit, but this weekend, it’s the Tigers’ turn. LSU got Williams on campus as soon as Davis was hired, putting them right into the mix. This is one Davis would love to pull off.
3-star DL Dilan Battle: The third defensive tackle on the weekend in Baton Rouge is another Texas prospect out of Arlington (Tex.) Mansfield Timberview. Battle generally keeps his recruitment close to the vest, but LSU’s right in the mix here. Along with LSU, programs like Cal, TCU, SMU and USC are in the mix for him. The Trojans made a good impression earlier this spring.
4-star Auburn DL commit Jourdin Crawford: LSU’s entire staff has put in a lot of work at Birmingham (Ala.) Parker to get into the mix. Now Crawford, who committed this fall to Auburn, will trip to Baton Rouge June 14. It’s his only official visit that he’s reported so LSU can at least feel good about getting him to campus. From there, it’ll take a great experience to begin talking about a flip here.
3-star DL Reginald Vaughn: Davis has recruited the Mississippi standout for quite some time now, visiting him quickly after getting hired. LSU’s trying to grab him out away from Mississippi State and Ole Miss. The Bulldogs and Rebels are doing a good job here, but the Tigers have hosted him before and are looking to knock the visit out of the park.
3-star DL Wilnerson Telemaque: Set to see LSU on June 21, another South Florida standout will visit Davis. He also has official visits to West Virginia on May 31, Georgia Tech on June 7, Wisconsin on June 14. The Tigers are in contact a decent amount, but other schools are making the full court press. LSU needs defensive linemen and with his intriguing frame, it’d be wise to make a push here.
3-star DL Xavier Ukponu: I’ve already put my On3 RPM in for the Denton (Tex.) Guyer standout to land with LSU. He’s set to visit the last official visit weekend of June and my intel says the Tigers are out in front here. Cal, Florida, Oregon and others are challenging for him, but Davis has done a nice job building a relationship dating back to his days at Texas.
