Despite Kansas City running out 27-20 victors in the bout, Travis Kelce failed to secure a touchdown today. Instead, rookie Xavier Worthy proved to be the difference between the two sides, notching two touchdowns for the Chiefs. Running back Isiah Pacheco also added to the tally by getting one touchdown to his name.
The clash opened with Baltimore scoring on their first drive and taking the score to 0-7. The Chiefs bounced back shortly afterward and ended the third quarter with a healthy lead of 20-10. Both sides then proceeded to secure one touchdown apiece, with Isaiah Likely doing the bidding for the Ravens from a Lamar Jackson pass.
With the game settled at 27-20 in its dying embers, Jackson and Likely connected once again for Baltimore to give the Ravens a glimmer of hope. Likely seemed to have collected the pass cleanly, as the Ravens were initially awarded a touchdown. However, to the visitors’ horror, Likely was judged to have landed his foot out of bounds by a few inches in a later replay. As such, the game ended in the Chiefs’ favor by the slightest of margins.
Aside from Xavier Worthy, quarterback Patrick Mahomes also put in a splendid performance for his side. He recorded 291 yards in throwing and also supplied the pass for the Chiefs’ final touchdown, per NBC News. Travis Kelce failed to produce a touchdown today but still contributed with three receives for 24 yards.
Andy Reid’s team will now face the Cincinnati Bengals in their next league fixture.
