Riverhead Student Heard Voicing 'Non-Specific Threat': Interim Supe
RIVERHEAD, NY —A Riverhead middle school student was heard "voicing a non-specific threat" Friday, according to Cheryl Pedisich, interim superintendent of the Riverhead Central School District, in a letter to the Blue Waves community."Administration was immediately informed and the Riverhead Town Police were notified," Pedisich said. "Following an investigation by law enforcement, it was determined there was no credible threat and at no time were any students or district staff in harm’s way."She added that the student and the student’s parents had been spoken with, and that the student would be disciplined in accordance with the district’s student code of conduct. "At this time, there is no additional information that can be shared with the community," Pedisich said, adding: "This situation serves as a reminder for parents and guardians to discuss with their children the consequences of making threatening statements, even when done in jest or without actual intention. Such behavior can lead to serious legal consequences as well as severe consequences as provided by the district’s student of code of conduct."The article Riverhead Student Heard Voicing 'Non-Specific Threat': Interim Supe appeared first on Riverhead, NY Patch.
