The Bear costars took their romance offscreen in September

Costars going from onscreen love interests to real-life partners is a tale as old as time. Just look at Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, or Kit Harington and Rose Leslie. While it’s not often encouraged that people date their coworkers, sometimes the chemistry is just undeniable. Now, it appears that two actors on The Bear—star Jeremy Allen White, who plays Carmy, and Molly Gordon, who plays Claire, the teenage crush he reunites with—are the latest to find love on set.
The news of their relationship came as a bit of a surprise, given that White had been recently linked to Spanish pop singer Rosalía. In fact, those two were seen out and about together a mere two months before White was spotted kissing Gordon on the streets of Los Angeles. And while it’s unclear what exactly caused the end of his romance with Rosalía, it seems things are seriously heating up between him and Gordon.
So how did things develop between The Bear stars and how long have they known each other? Ahead, see White and Gordon’s complete relationship timeline.

September 27, 2024: A source says Jeremy and Molly had “intense chemistry” for quite some time.
Following the pair’s first romantic sighting, a source tells People that the two had been building up a connection for quite some time.
“There were set rumors early on that they had intense chemistry even when not filming,” the insider side. “They didn’t start hanging out romantically until a few weeks ago, though.”
The source also added that White “really seems into Molly.” They said, “She spends time at his house. They go on lunch dates and seem to have a great time. They’re affectionate, often in deep conversations and seem curious to get to know each other better.”
September 25, 2024: The two are seen kissing for the first time.
While the relationship between White and Gordon had been considered entirely platonic up to this point, everything changes when the two are seen kissing on the streets of Los Angeles.
No cameras are in sight at the moment, indicating that the two aren’t filming a scene for The Bear. White—who is outfitted in a straw-colored cardigan and white tank paired with blue jeans, black boots, and a baseball cap—is seen wrapping his arms around Gordon, who sports a pink quilted puffer coat and white top, along with cream cargo pants and matching sneakers (seen here). After their serious PDA, White is seen opening the car door for Gordon, who gets in her vehicle and drives away.

While discussing her role on The Bear with AwardsRadar, Gordon says her connection with White was like an “opposites attract” moment.
“Jeremy is such an open and such a kind and curious actor, he brought me into the fold in such a great way because I was definitely nervous to be a part of something that already had this crew,” she says. “He’s such a genuinely good person. He’s an actor that asks questions, which is unheard of. I think we are kind of opposites, in this way, and it was an ‘opposites attract’ moment.”
July 17, 2023: Molly talks about her instant connection to Jeremy.
In an interview with Glamour, Gordon is asked what it was like to work with White. “Once they sent me the scripts and I started reading, I couldn’t believe they would put me in the same room as Jeremy Allen White,” she says. “My slob self? How dare they? I was very nervous because he is such a brilliant actor, and I wanted to live up to his talent. But I trusted that Chris [Storer] knew we would have a nice flow.”
She adds, “Our first day of shooting together was the refrigerator scene. The first time I met him, I felt that excitement of meeting an actor that you admire, but I also felt like I had known him for so long. He’s such a generous, available person, whereas you have to pull so many other actors out of their shells. He was like, ‘I’m in this with you.’ I immediately felt like there was something really good there, and I felt safe in that dynamic. I guess Chris knew.”
June 30, 2023: Jeremy praises Molly’s performance in The Bear.
During an interview with Variety, White breaks down elements of season two, and while discussing his onscreen relationship with Gordon, he ends up praising her performance.
“It was very welcoming to see Claire for Carmy,” he tells the outlet. “I also think Molly does such an amazing job. She’s so disarming and funny and charming. I think it didn’t allow Carmy to build up his his regular walls. She knocked them down with ease and allowed Carmy to feel cared for, which must have just been so welcomed because I don’t know the last time Carmy would have allowed himself to be cared for.”

Despite having been in the industry for years, White and Gordon do not cross paths until they work together on The Bear.
Gordon is brought on for season two to play Claire Dunlap, a childhood friend of the Berzatto family and a longtime crush of Carmy’s (White), who helps him to grow. In an interview with Vogue, she reveals she didn’t have a chemistry test for the show, and the first time she actually met White was when they filmed their first scene together.
She was offered the part by creator Christopher Storer, who she had previously worked with on Ramy. She tells Harper’s Bazaar in an interview: “I worked with Chris on Ramy like five years ago, and dreamed that I could work with him again. He always said to me, ‘We’re gonna work together again.’ But people always say that, and they never actually call you.
I’m waiting for like 20 of those people. Did they die? I’ve never heard from them again. I texted him how incredible the show was, and I said I would die to be a part of it. I would play a napkin, I would play a cup, whatever. And he, I guess, had thought of me for this role. One of my favorite moments in my life was when he asked me to be a part of it. I didn’t even know what the character was or like anything about it, so learning that I was going to work opposite Jeremy was like, Jesus Christ. We were still editing Theater Camp, so I would fly once a week to Chicago for a couple days and then fly back to finish the movie and would edit on my computer at night.”
