During her song Frita, Anitta, 31, sang, but fans noticed that her mouth wasn’t moving correctly with the words.
The track sounded very clear and recorded for singing live outside.
Fans on X, formerly Twitter, said that she lip-synched during Today‘s Citi Summer Concert Series.
“Love lip syncing,” one watcher said.
“She lip synced,” said another.
“Listen, I support new artists and I love when they have performances on the Plaza but if an artist can’t actually sing their songs why even bother?!” added a third.
“It’s beyond comical how bad this is. I love when they have artists on the Plaza but when it comes down to the lip syncing I draw the line. Awful,” another said.
“What a boring performance,” said another.
“She needs to brush up on her syncing skill’s, she was awful,” added one last fan.
Anitta also sang her 2022, hit Envolver, as well as Lose Ya Breath and Cria de Favela.
ANITTA ON THE PLAZA
Anitta kept cool in the New York heat in a short denim skirt, leather vest, belt, fishnet stockings, and boots.
She wore her brown hair down and in waves behind her back.
When the singer finished her performance, she went into the crowd and greeted fans.
Host Hoda Kotb brought one fan up to the stage to hug and meet Anitta, after she showed off her dance moves in the crowd.

She then sat down for an interview on Today’s Third Hour with Craig Melvin, Dylan Dreyer, and Sheinelle Jones.
Anitta, whose real name is Larissa de Macedo Machado, opened up about why she uses the moniker.
She explained to the hosts that there was a woman in her hometown who used the name and said she woke up every day and decided the type of woman she would be that day.
Anitta then performed one more song on the plaza.
SOMETHING ON HER MIND
Anitta opened up to Today before hitting the Plaza.
“I’m sorry if I’ve been quiet; I just came from one of the worst interviews of my entire career,” she told the outlet.
“They only wanted to ask me about sex, my sexuality, my dating life. It was so sexist, like we were stuck in time like 20 years ago.”
“At one point they asked if I’d consider posing for Playboy. Playboy!” she went on.
“And when I responded, I said, ‘Who knows, maybe I’ll go be a writer for Playboy.’ They were so surprised. It was as though they had never considered I could be good looking and talented and smart.”
However, Anitta later admitted that she doesn’t mind talking about her sexuality, but that’s not all she wants to talk about.
“I love being a sexual person. It’s part of my character. I just don’t like when people think that’s just it,” she said.
