Popular theme park is faced with delays over opening of comic strip character-themed attractions
A POPULAR theme park has been hit with a major delay just before it was slated to open.
The unveiling of the new and improved Camp Snoopy at Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, California, was scheduled to open on Memorial Day weekend.

Now, the land’s reopening date has been pushed until June or July.
“Due to construction delays, the official debut of the reimagined Camp Snoopy at Knott’s Berry Farm, originally scheduled for Memorial Day weekend, has been postponed,” read an official statement from the theme park.
“It is, however, anticipated to open early summer, with the launch of new attractions.”
Despite the delay, Knott’s Berry Farm officials said guests will still be able to interact with their favorite Peanuts characters.
“Knott’s Berry Farm remains committed to providing the best experience for its guests and eagerly anticipates welcoming visitors of all ages to enjoy summer camp adventures with Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang,” the statement added.
The update to Camp Snoopy was announced last August and many fans shared on social media that they had a feeling the park wouldn’t be ready in time.
“When they announced that summer events were not happening until mid-June, I figured everything else would be pushed to closer to that date,” wrote one person on Facebook.
“I am looking forward to all of the new stuff.”
Another wrote, “It’ll be so fun to see when it happens. Camp Snoopy is so cute.”
The land has new experiences such as rides, dining, and other improved features.
The last time Camp Snoopy received a major overhaul was in 2014 for its 30th anniversary, reported the Orange County Register.
Some of the new attractions include a family coaster, an updated off-road rally race attraction, and a super-sized swing perfect for kids and adults.
Meanwhile, two original attractions from the land, which opened in 1983, will be removed.
The new Camp Snoopy now has a new theater while Woodstock’s Airmail has now turned into the Camp Post Office.
A new terrace area will also be known as Barrell Bridge and Waterfall, where guests can earn merit badges in the great outdoors.
Parents can sit and relax while watching their children explore.
Attractions at Camp Snoopy
If you love the Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the rest of the Peanuts gang, you'll want to spend your summer at Camp Snoopy.
Charlie and the gang are preparing for the annual jamboree, which promises to be a fun week of competitions and activities.
Here are some of the attractions you can expect this summer:
Snoopy’s Tenderpaw Twister Coaster – This new attraction is located at the Beagle Scout Headquarters, where Scout Leader Snoopy and his troop will guide you through the forest.
Sally’s Swing Along – Kids and parents can sit side-by-side on this giant bench swing that glides 10 feet in the air.
Camp Snoopy’s Off-Road Rally – What used to be the Rocky Mountain Trucking company is now Cam Snoopy’s Off-Road Rally, letting guests jump inside a four-wheel jeep and drive through an expanded track and terrain.
Beagle Express – The Grand Sierra Railroad has been rethemed into the Beagle Express, featuring a new electronic locomotive.
A new updated dining experience at Grizzly Lodge has also been added.
Knott’s Berry Farm described the new Camp Snoopy as an adventure with the Peanuts Gang as they partake in the camp’s annual jamboree.
“Inspired by the California High Sierras, Camp Snoopy allows campers of all ages to become full-fledged Beagle Scouts as they explore new rides, new character experiences, new entertainment, a new dining hall, camp store, plus more seating and ambiance,” the statement read.
