Date A Live V debuted as a part of the Spring 2024 line-up. The season is set to have 12 episodes, and the adaptation starts with volume 17 of the light novel. There are just five more volumes till the conclusion, and audiences are curious about the fate of the characters. The question that stands out the most is: Who will the main character end up with?
The popular anime first debuted in March 2011. It is based on Kōshi Tachibana’s renowned light novel Date A Live. Because of this, the story of Shido and Tohka already has a conclusion, albeit one that leaves the door open.

Towards the end of Date A Live, an intense showdown occurs between the Ratatoskr and Deus Ex Machina Industries. This results in the death of the Spirit of Origin, followed by the vanishing of Spirit powers from their world. Most of Shido’s love interests lose their Spirit powers, but Tohka, being a Spirit, completely fades away.
A Beast goes on a rampage in their world, and it is revealed that it is Tohka from a parallel world. She goes berserk after witnessing Shido’s death in that world. He goes on a date with her and asks her to stay with him. However, Tohka rejects his advances and returns to her world.
She meets with Kurumi, who reveals that Tohka may be able to reverse the damage. In Shido’s original world, the Spirit of Origin revives Tohka as a gift to Shido and fades away shortly after.

Tohka is revived at the end of the series, which conveniently brings forth a light-hearted ending that is appreciated by many audiences. This means Shido ends with Tohka, but the series leaves an open ending.
It doesn’t delve into whether these actually got together, so the audience is free to interpret the ending accordingly. However, it might be a foundation for a sequel that approaches this harem romance series from a different perspective.
