90 Day Fiancé star Michael Eloshway checked into prison to begin his 10-year prison sentence after being found guilty of possessing videos of children being abused, In Touch can exclusively report.
According to court documents obtained by In Touch, Michael, 42, was scheduled to self-surrender on January 8, but the check-in date was postponed to January 15.

The court allowed Michael additional time after his lawyer informed the court Michael’s sister, Amy Heim, died.
Michael’s sister passed on December 28, 2024, and he asked that he be allowed to attend the celebration of life ceremony before he entered prison.
Michael’s family previously told the court that the ex-TLC star’s only sister was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic lung cancer at the age of 39.

In October 2024, the family said Amy was “undergoing treatment but her physical health is rapidly declining.” Michael’s mom said, “The treatment she has been on for nearly two years stopped working and the tumors are starting to grow again. They are not trying a much more toxic chemotherapy but her prognosis is not good.”
Prison records show Michael checked in at FCI Elkton, a low security federal correctional institution. The facility has a total of 1,994 inmates. The prison allows visits between inmates and family and friends.
The official handbook notes, “New inmates are asked to submit a visiting list which will be given to their Counselor for approval. Relatives and friends may be approved after certain checks are made.”
The Bureau of Prisons lists Michael’s release date as “unknown.” As In Touch previously reported, Michael was found guilty on two felony charges of child pornography in October 2024.
Prosecutors accused him of having received, distributed and possessed videos that they described as “sadistic.” Michael’s lawyer argued his client’s searches on the internet were “generic” and that Michael deleted all material he deemed to be illegal.
Prosecutors scoffed at the suggestion that Michael was a “casual observer who happened download [illegal videos] when seeking legal pornography.”

The government demanded Michael serve 20 years behind bars. Michael pleaded for a softer sentence. The former reality star’s wife and mother wrote letters to the judge pleading for him not to throw the book at Michael.
Michael’s mother, Kerry Eloshway, claimed her son was involved in a horrible car crash in 2021 that left him severely injured. She said he lost another friend to suicide in 2022 and then his grandmother passed.
Kerry also revealed Amy’s health issues for the first time.
“Michael has always been a faithful husband and devoted father,” Michael’s mom wrote in her letter.
“He has never been the type of guy to go out with friends, always preferring to be home with his family.” Kerry added, “I understand the gravity of Michael’s extremely poor decision making. I truly believe that working from home through COVID, his accident and the losses our family faced put him into a severe depression. I know he did become increasingly addicted to pornography during that period.”

Kerry said, “I acknowledge the severity of Mike’s lack of judgment and self-control. He made a horrific mistake that has caused him to lose his $80,000 a year job, his freedom, his life savings to pay for his attorney. He lost a great reputation, his standing in the community and mostly his own self respect.”
“I struggle to understand how a long period of incarceration for someone who has always been a good person will benefit society,” she said. His wife, Aziza Eloshway, also wrote a letter to the court.
At his sentencing, the judge ordered Michael to serve 10 years behind bars, pay $10,000 in fines and $5,000 to two victims featured in videos found on Michael’s computer.
The judge said he decided not to sentence Michael to the full 20 years requested by prosecutors due to his lack of a criminal history.
At sentencing, the judge also noted Michael passed a polygraph where the ex-TLC star claimed he never had any intention to ever meet up with children in person.
Michael filed an appeal of the sentence.
