The Christian Chronicle presents first Norton Colloquium

Howard Norton
Join The Christian Chronicle at Inspire: the 101st Harding Lectureship as we honor the life and legacy of our former editor Howard Norton.
Brother Norton had a passion for the Lord’s church, and the Chronicle seeks to continue his call for dialogue focused on the health of the fellowship, global missions and the growth of Churches of Christ globally.
In our first Norton Colloquium, we offer three sessions featuring panels of dedicated Christian journalists, scholars and ministers.
Funds for the Colloquium come from our new Norton Endowment. Learn more about the endowment and how to contribute here.
All classes begin at 11 a.m. in McInteer 145 on the campus of Harding University in Searcy, Ark.

Monday, Sept. 30: The present and future of Churches of Christ
What do Churches of Christ in the U.S. look like in a post-pandemic world? We know many churches are closing, and anecdotes point to a decline. But what are the real numbers and what do they tell us?
We introduce the Church Research Council, an initiative of 21st Century Christian, Heritage21 and The Christian Chronicle to present accurate, statistical data for a realistic picture of our congregations.
• Carl Royster, co-manager, 21st Century Christian Inc.
• Stan Granberg, trustee and founding member, Heritage21.
• Erik Tryggestad, president and CEO, The Christian Chronicle (moderator).

Tuesday, Oct. 1: How Should We Talk About Politics? Or Should We?
As another contentious U.S. presidential election approaches, how should Christians respond in an increasingly divisive atmosphere?

The Christian Chronicle staff shares inspiring stories from the people they’ve profiled around the world who demonstrate God’s providence and exemplify Joseph’s words to his brothers in Genesis 50:20: “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”
