Integrity is one of only four organizations to receive the award.Through the contract, Integrity House will establish a Nurse Care Management team to provide essential health services in Integrity’s three Newark-based outpatient treatment locations. This includes medical assessment and/or screening for hypertension, high cholesterol, viral hepatitis, heart disease, and HIV/AIDS; health coaching; and care coordination in partnership with general and specialty medical providers. The program will also offer telehealth services for those who need it.The Nurse Care Management program will support Integrity in further integrating substance use disorder treatment, mental health services, and physical health services to assist individuals in achieving full health and sustained recovery. The program enhances Integrity House’s capacity to address inequities in healthcare access often experienced by historically marginalized populations that often continue to experience barriers today“This contract from DMHAS will help us provide essential services to people struggling with substance use disorder who would otherwise be unable to get help,” said Robert J. Budsock, President and CEO of Integrity House. “Many people experiencing addiction encounter roadblocks to medical services. As a result, many illnesses or ailments are often left untreated and get worse, further impacting the individual and complicating their recovery from substance use disorder. Our Nurse Care Management will allow us to help whoever comes through our doors through medical, education, prevention and recovery services.”Integrity has embedded nursing services in its treatment programs for over 40 years and formally established a medical department on its Secaucus campus in 1994. Integrity House currently contracts or employs over 20 Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). Nurses in the Integrity House programs have been providing clients in their residential programs with screening services, addressing health issues, providing referrals for specialty health services, including flu and COVID-19 vaccinations, assisting with appointments, and providing education and prevention resources regarding chronic disease, comorbidities, and infectious diseases. Through the NCM, Integrity will be able to provide the same services to clients in its outpatient programs. The new Nurse Care Management team will consist of the Project Director, Christina VanNess, a Nurse Care Manager, Jessica Daughety, a Case Manager, a Health Coach, and a Peer Recovery Specialist. The team will work in three different Newark outpatient locations: 1091 Broad Street, 26 Longworth Street, and 659 Martin Luther King Boulevard, with 1091 serving as the main office for the team. All locations will begin taking clients via a walk-in clinic. The clinic will be open Monday and Thursday from 11 am - 7 pm at 26 Longworth Street, Wednesday from 11 am - 7 pm at 659 Martin Luther King Boulevard, and Tuesday and Friday from 11 am - 7 pm at 1091 Broad Street. For more information, visit https://integrityhouse.org.Send local news tips and correction requests to [email protected].
