New Bedford launches online air quality tracker
NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) — People who live in New Bedford can now check their city's air quality online.
The city's Office of Resilience and Environmental Stewardship has released an online dashboard that shows real-time air quality data.

"The city of New Bedford is committed to improving the quality of life for its residents, starting with the very air they breathe," Mayor Jon Mitchell said. "The information generated by this network of sensors will illuminate the steps we need to take."
The data comes from solar-powered sensors, created by QuantAQ, that were set up around the city last spring in areas such as Buttonwood Park, St. Luke's Hospital and Pier 3.
The city was helped by Groundwork with creating the online dashboard and with talking to residents about where these sensors were going to be installed.
Funding for this initiative came from a $391,822 grant by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's 2022 American Rescue Plan.
