EXCLUSIVE: Wendell Holland Details His Elimination on The GOAT

When Wendell Holland entered Goat Manor in Prime Video’s new series, The GOAT, he set out to become the Greatest Reality TV Star of All Time. Unfortunately for him, though, his physicality, strategic prowess, and epic social gameplay placed a target on his back early on. This week, his competitors finally took their shot, sending the Survivor winner packing only days before the finale.
During an exclusive chat with Reality Tea, Wendell discussed his game, saying being “the best player in the house” came with a lot of stress. “Like, I knew that the first clear shot they got at me, they would take it,” he told us. “I knew that.”
The GOAT began with 14 contestants, all from different reality shows, including The Bachelor, the Real Housewives, Vanderpump Rules, and Big Brother. Naturally, the women teamed up with each other, leaving the men to fend for themselves. At the head of the women’s alliance is Da’Vonne Rogers, who made Wendell (and the other guys) her No. 1 target after an unsuspecting blindside earlier in the game. Although Wendell hoped to work some of his jury management magic, he saw the writing on the wall after his closest ally, Reza Farahan, was axed the week before. “I had watched my allies get picked off one by one by one by one,” he explained before saying his numbers were “dwindling week by week by week.”

Since Da’Vonne and Wendell knew each other outside of Goat Manor, their CBS alliance seemed locked in place. However, things shifted in Episode 3, when Wendell threw a wrench in Day’s plans, ultimately sending Lauren Speed-Hamilton home rather than her target, Justin Johnson. According to Wendell, he didn’t expect his blindside to shatter their alliance completely.
“So, if you’re Day, and you have the numbers … [and] you’re in a position of power talking to me and saying, ‘I want your ally out,’ and I’m saying, ‘That’s my man. Like, let’s, let’s find a common target, and we’ll get them out.’ And your whole stance is, ‘No, this is what I’m gonna do,’ … okay, I hear where you’re coming from. I’ll try to make my best move [and] you make your best move,” he said.
“Tomorrow, we’ll reconvene and keep working together, no matter what happens. So, that’s my stance. And in [the] Survivor world, you can, you know, work different, not against each other, but just work differently and come back together the next day.”
Later, the reality star said he’d continue having game conversations with Day throughout the game but had no idea she was “in the confessionals … just [talking] trash about me.”
“I never watched Da’Vonne play [Big Brother or The Challenge],” he said. “I just know she comes from [those shows]. So, my default is a high level of respect for that player. So, every time I was in a confessional, I’m saying how like, she’s a player. I didn’t know that she played so hard with her emotions. If you take your emotions out of it, and someone made a better play than you, you should still be able to work with them.”
What’s next for Wendell after The GOAT?

All in all, though, Wendell admitted he has “mad respect” for Da’Vonne despite her “trashing me on TV.”
“I still have respect for her. It’s not going to affect that,” he said. “Despite her voting me out, I still had love for her; I still have love for her to this day. I just think that her saying certain things about me and these confessionals, like, I don’t think that’s called for, and I wish [she] would’ve just kept it funky with me to my face in the game.”
“When people are in your face, and you demand a certain level of respect. They won’t say these things, but then they’ll go in confessionals and say them. I get it. You’re mobilizing your Twitter stans, whatever, but like, yo, you know me in real life, and I’ve never disrespected you in real life ever.”
Even though he didn’t win the $200K, the father of one still has a lot to look forward to. In addition to building a boutique hotel (The Gas Lamp) in Philadelphia, he’s filming another home-focused show in the fall. “It’s a build show that I will be filming this August, September, and October in Houston, Orlando, Phoenix, and Los Angeles,” he said. “So, that’s gonna be awesome too.”
