Limit of Tautog to Over 17 Pounds

Man, did that weather suck!! It almost felt like spring outside today with sunny skies, lightish winds and temps in the mid and upper 40s. Compared to what we've seen over the past week it was more than welcomed. Our area saw a pretty major snow event last week with anywhere between 6" and 12" of snow accumulations, and then we had wind and freezing temperatures that had schools closed for a full week. After a two-hour delay, it was back to school for the kiddos and after who knows how long, it was back to the rip for some boats.
The bluefin tuna may have finally left the building after a crazy run that started in late October. A few boats have tried and had no bites, so they are most likely headed to the south. Captain Chase Eberle of Chasin' Tides Charters did his share of damage to the bluefin population, including a beautiful 442 pound giant, but now it's on to tautog fishing. Today's trip was a good one for Chasin' Tides and his crew as they caught a limit of tautog. James Diotte caught the biggest fish at 17.5 pounds, and Captain Chase added his own at 12 pounds.
Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star was able to get out to the tog grounds today as well.
