Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra Files Lokpal Complaint Against SEBI Chief Madhabi Puri Buch Over Alleged Adani Links
Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra on Friday filed a Lokpal complaint against SEBI chief Madhabi Puri Buch over alleged Adani links. Moitra filed a complaint before the Lokpal against Madhabi Puri Buch, SEBI Chairperson over allegations of misconduct and financial irregularities.The Trinamool Congress member has accused the SEBI head of improper conduct and entering into quid pro quo arrangements."My Lokpal complaint against Ms PuriBuch been filed electronically & in physical form. Lokpal must within 30 days refer it to CBI/ED for a preliminary investigation and then a full FIR enquiry. Every single entity involved needs to be summoned & every link investigated," Moitra posted on X. Saying that it was a matter of national interest, Moitra urged the Lokpal to investigate the matter for violations of the Prevention of Corruption Act.Buch on Friday said that she had complied with all disclosure guidelines issued by the market regulator, news agency Reuters reported. "Madhabi has complied with all the disclosure and recusal guidelines of SEBI, and in fact, maintained a proactive continuing recusal list with SEBI over and above the requirements under the guidelines," the statement said.Buch has been in the eye of the storm ever since US-based short-seller Hindenburg Research and the Opposition raised the conflict of interest issue in connection with the SEBI chief and the ongoing investigation related to the Adani Group."The allegations made are false, incorrect, malicious and motivated," Buch and her husband Dhaval Buch said in the statement.Earlier, Buch had also clarified that she has not handled any regulatory matters concerning her former employer, ICICI Bank. This follows recent allegations by the Congress party that suggested a conflict of interest due to her past employment at ICICI Bank, which she left in 2011. ICICI Bank has denied these allegations.Additionally, Buch addressed claims of a conflict of interest involving the Mahindra Group and Dr Reddy's, clarifying that she recused herself from any matters related to these companies due to consulting fees paid to Dhaval Buch.
