Philadelphia Eagles drop major hint over Lincoln Financial Field stadium exit after message to season ticket holders

THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES stoked speculation about a change of stadium when they emailed fans a survey on the matter last week.
The Super Bowl champions refused to shut the door on any possibilities in their address to the fans.

The Eagles have called Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field home since 2003.
The organisation still has seven years left on their lease at the 67,500-seater stadium, but have already begun considering options for the future.
In an effort to gauge their fan base on the issue, the Eagles sent out a survey alongside a statement confirming some potential future options.
The email read: “We’re exploring potential updates to Lincoln Financial Field—including both renovations options and the possibility of a brand new stadium in the region.
“We’d love to hear your thoughts on each of these possibilities.”
The short and sweet appeal for the fans’ opinion on a potential move away from the stadium confirmed speculation that has been brewing for months.
Earlier this year, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie admitted there was a chance that the team would move to a new home.
He centred the desire for a venue able to bring major events to Philadelphia as one benefit of a move.

He said: “We’re starting to talk all about it and think about what our options are.
“I don’t have a strong opinion about it because you’re torn.
“I love outdoor football. I love it. I love the cold games. I like the hot games. I like the snow games.
“On the other hand, does Philadelphia deserve to host the Super Bowl? The NCAA Final Four? Lots of great events.
“It’s an incredible sports city. Does it deserve that? Yes, so you’ve got to balance all of those things.”
The Super Bowl and Final Four games are generally held in stadiums with domed or retractable roofs rather than cold, open-air grounds like Lincoln Financial Field.
As it stands, the Eagles also share their stadium with NCAA outfit the Temple Owls.
