Peyton Manning reacts to Arch Manning’s first career TD, involvement with Texas QB
Texas bested Colorado State 52-0 during their Week 1 clash, but the real star of the show was backup quarterback Arch Manning, as there’s a palpable buzz around him following his first touchdown pass of his collegiate career.
During Friday’s edition of The Pat McAfee Show from Ann Arbor ahead of the Longhorns’ Week 2 clash against the reigning, defending champions in the Michigan Wolverines, Peyton Manning joined the broadcast, where he reacted to Arch Manning’s performance against the Rams last weekend, shedding some insight into his involvement in the young quarterback’s development.

“It’s obviously Arch and his dad Cooper. This is not some kind of team, by any means. Eli [Manning] and I are his uncles. We talk to him kind of when he reaches out to us, and try to answer questions,” Peyton Manning said, regarding how the Manning family has handled Arch Manning’s football career. “Like I’ve told you, I think sometimes he regrets it. He might ask me a question about a two-minute drill, and I’ll leave him three 12 minutes voice memos later about the two-minute drill, so I’m sure he’s like, ‘I wish I wouldn’t have asked my uncle that question.’ But I’m proud of Arch. I’m proud of him.
“Like you said, most kids probably wouldn’t’ have stayed in that situation. He went to Texas because he wanted to play at Texas. He wanted to go to college there, play for Sark (Steve Sarkisian). Those are the right reasons you should choose a college, and I’m glad he’s staying there. He and Quinn [Ewers] have a good relationship. I think Quinn’s going to have a great year. But yeah, it was fun to see him get in there, Pat.

“My dad’s speed and athletic ability kind of skipped a generation and went to him, it did not come to me and Eli. So, he can run. He can move. The celebration on the sideline, hey, I have no clue when it comes to that, but I’m happy for him, and like I said, pulling hard this year. Cooper’s coming to Ann Arbor this weekend, and you know, should be a great ballgame there in Ann Arbor.”
While Peyton Manning and his brother Eli Manning may be letting Arch Manning carve his own path, it’s evident they’ll always be keeping a keen eye on their nephew, as the Texas backup quarterback looks to cultivate his future in football moving forward.
