York University names new president

YORK, NEB. — York University has named Tim Westbrook to serve as its 22nd president, board chairman R. Wayne White announced this week.
Westbrook has worked at Harding University in Searcy, Ark., since 2005. He serves as director of Equip, Harding’s online program in Bible and ministry.
Before joining the Harding team, Westbrook spent nearly a decade as a missionary to Hungary.
“Anessa and I are honored to accept this tremendous opportunity to join the mission of York University,” Westbrook said in a statement. “Christ-centered higher education must have a major impact on our world today. As we look into the bright future of York University, we move forward with humility and resolve to serve the students, staff, and faculty in such a way to help maximize this institution’s influence on the global kingdom of God.”
Samuel Smith, who served as York’s 21st president, left last year to take the helm of Mount Dora Christian Academy and Children’s Home in Florida. Both York and Mount Dora are associated with Churches of Christ.
Jared Stark, York’s vice president for advancement, will continue as interim president until Westbrook assumes the office on July 1.
