Michigan State offers Texas DB Chase Davis as he eyes June official visit
Michigan State cornerbacks coach Demetrice Martin extended a 2025 offer to Pearland (TX) Dawson High School cornerback Chase Davis on May 22. Davis (5-11, 180) holds other offers from Arkansas, Louisville, Central Florida, and UNLV.
On3 has not yet ranked the Texas cornerback. Davis plays cornerback and safety, along with wide receiver and sometimes quarterback for Dawson High School.
Davis was offered by Martin during the Spartan coaches visit to his school.
“Coach Martin was familiar with me and my film, but yesterday was our first real conversation,” Davis told SpartanMag.com. “He told me to keep working and to come visit in June. He likes my versatility being able to play outside or nickel. I have also played safety. (Martin) said he is expecting me to have a big senior year.
“I have been named all-district in Texas 6A football as a sophomore and as a junior, so that says a lot right there. I have played safety and corner so I can play nickel or outside. I am really good in press man to man and will come up in run support. This year I will start at wide receiver and cornerback, and also probably return kicks. I also get tips and workout with my cousin Ja’Quan McMillian who is the starting nickel for the Denver Broncos.”
The cornerback is excited to five deeper into the Michigan State program. His family has connections in the area allowing him to learn more about East Lansing.
“They play in a great conference and the new coaching staff will get it turned around,” Davis said. “My dad knows some people in the area and they told him the campus is beautiful and they have the resources to become a powerhouse program.”
Davis is now already looking into setting an official visit with Michigan State. He is looking for a weekend in June that fits best in his schedule.
“I plan to come sometime in June, I am just not sure of the date yet,” Davis said. “I will get there. I hope to get a feel for the campus, the city, and Coach Martin’s coaching style.
“Coach Martin has put a lot of great defensive backs in the league and I want to learn as much as I can.”
Michigan State has also recently offered Chicago area defensive back Ahmad Grayer, along with Georgia cornerback Shamar Arnoux, and Texas CB Jayden Sanders, as Martin continues to expand his 2025 board.
The Spartans will host California cornerbacks LaRue Zamorano and Joshua Tuchek in June, along with Florida cornerback George Mullins for official visits this summer.
