Many homeowners find cleaning their bathrooms tedious with the need to scrub difficult-to-reach areas, wipe surfaces, and mop up splashes.
Avoiding the task for too long can lead to unpleasant odors and health hazards.
Kelly Reynolds, PhD, MSPH, who is a professor at the University of Arizona, told Self that bathrooms need to be cleaned weekly with disinfectant.
“A lot of microbes grow slowly, especially when we’re talking about yeast and mold in the bathroom,” she said.
However, if there is someone in your household who has an infectious illness such as the flu cleaning should increase to daily to kill germs and avoid the spread.
Hani (@hanicleanwithme) is steadily growing her following on TikTok, with videos sharing her life in Malaysia.
She went viral on the app after posting an eye-opening bathroom cleaning hack.
She showed the process of using a broom to “scrub her heart out” of the floor.
All of the dirt was then easily washed down two drains installed on the floor.
Hani admitted to being surprised not every country has drains in their bathroom to make cleaning easy.
She said the floor in her bathroom is “slightly slanted” to help water flow toward the drain and the hot weather in Malaysia helps everything to dry quickly.
Almost 97,000 viewers liked her video and thousands took to the comment section to share their opinions.
“That is so smart,” one person wrote. “I would LOVE to have drains in my bathroom floor, maybe even the kitchen too.”
“I would hate cleaning the bathroom less if it looked more like this,” another said.
“If I ever build my own house, I will have a drain in every bathroom,” a third chimed in.
“I wish we had drainage in American bathrooms,” a fourth commented.
“It would make cleaning so much easier.
“My bathroom doesn’t have tile on the wall either so I can’t clean it.”
Cleaning tips to elevate your home
Realtor Stephanie Booth shared her go-to cleaning tips with The U.S. Sun.
Use dish soap and baking soda to scrub your stovetop and kitchen cabinets.
Clean your carpets, dishwasher, and under appliances as soon as you move in.
Make a crockpot potpourri of sliced lemons, vanilla, a sprig of rosemary, and two cups of water.
Fluff your pillows but don’t worry about karate-chopping them.
“It makes so much more sense,” another added.
“American bathrooms have wood with some sort of laminate over top usually.
“I hate my bathroom floor. This is awesome.”
The cleaning tip comes after another TikToker went viral when she revealed how to clean bathroom mirrors.
Ellen (@ellentheblogger) said a Squeegee should be used instead of paper towels to save on costs.
The cleaning tool can also be found at Walmart for $6.
