Beyond The Gates Spoilers: Joey’s Shocking Motive Revealed As Doug Falls Deeper Into Joey’s Web of DeceitJoey Armstrong (Jon Lindstrom) is setting up Dr. Doug McBride (Jason Graham) for a fall. He sees Doug as an easy mark, as he plans for Doug to lose all his money at his casino.
He wants Doug to owe him big, and be indebted to him. Joey is also heavily flirting with Doug’s wife, Vanessa McBride (Lauren Buglioli), hiring her as a real estate agent to find a home for Joey’s mother, who Vanessa recently learned is actually dead.
Joey smoothed his way out of the lie, and said that he was embarrassed to tell her that the house was actually for him. However, the lie about Joey’s mother could be the link, and the reason why Joey is trying to take down Doug.
Doug McBride Was Joey Armstrong’s Mother’s Doctor
Doug is a very successful heart surgeon in the community, but that does not mean that he has not lost a patient or two. Doug could very well have been the doctor that couldn’t save the life of Joey’s mother, who had a heart condition.
This could be the reason that Joey is targeting Doug- he holds him responsible for the death of his mother! Joey wants Doug to lose it all- his money, his house, and his wife!
Joey Armstrong’s Plot Against Doug Intensifies
Joey has been plotting at the casino when Doug is there, having the dealer change decks, and making sure that Doug loses at all costs.
He would soon convince Doug to play in a very high stakes game, and Doug, who is developing quite a nasty addiction, wouldn’t be able to resist, as he is starting to owe Joey a large sum of money.
Joey would convince Joey that this is a sure-win and that he would be able to pay him back and then some.
However, Joey has big plans up his sleeve. He would make sure that Doug loses by dealing from the bottom of the deck, and Doug would have nothing left.
Joey Armstrong Encourages Doug McBride To Put His House Up As Collateral
In a last-ditch effort to save himself from complete debt, Joey would convince Doug to put up his home as collateral. Doug may resist at first, but Joey, being as smooth as is, would convince him that it is his best option.
Doug reluctantly would agree, and do just that. However, Joey makes sure that Doug loses his house too, and Doug would have absolutely nothing left!
Joey Armstrong Plans To Seduce Vanessa McBride
Part of Joey’s plan is to seduce Vanessa, and take her away from Doug in his plan of revenge against Doug. He knows that Vanessa is an incorrigible flirt, and he probably also knows that Vanessa cheats on Doug with Diego Sanchez (Carlos Enrique Palacio).
Seducing Vanessa and making sure that Doug finds out about it, would be easy for him, as Joey has been very charming with her. This would be occurring while he is planning to take Doug’s money and house.
The night that Doug loses it all, he would find Vanessa in bed with Joey! Doug would start to realize that Joey has been after him this entire time, and set him up!
A Confrontation Occurs
After finding Vanessa in bed with Joey, Doug would confront them. Joey would tell Doug that this is payback for everything that he has done.
Doug wouldn’t understand, but Joey would fill him in- he operated on Joey’s mother and he killed her, and Joey needed Doug to pay for that.
Doug would be shocked, and Joey would tell him that he is getting exactly what he deserves. Doug would be angry that he fell into Joey’s plan and be completely at a loss and defeated.
