This week at Harbor Park: Turn Back the Clock night opens Norfolk Tides’ nine-game homestand
Some Norfolk Tides fans are likely skipping breakfast Tuesday, maybe eating a little less than usual for lunch.
Dieting? No, not exactly.
The Tides on Tuesday host “Turn Back the Clock Night” — an annual tradition at Harbor Park with hot dogs, popcorn and sodas for 50 cents each.
Good for the waistline? No. Good for the bottom line? Definitely.
Tides general manager Joe Gregory has likened “Turn Back the Clock Night” attendance to a typically well-attended Saturday night with postgame fireworks.
Gates open Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. for the 6:35 game.
Tuesday’s smorgasbord begins a rare nine-game homestand at Harbor Park. The Tides host the Charlotte Knights through Sunday, and then the Durham Bulls arrive for a three-game set through July 3.
A look at the Tides as they return home Tuesday and begin a six-game series against Charlotte, the top affiliate of the Chicago White Sox:
Norfolk’s record: 36-39
New in town: OF Kyle Stowers rejoined the Tides from Baltimore during Norfolk’s road trip last week. Stowers batted .286 with the Orioles, playing in 17 of 34 games, with only 36 plate appearances. Saturday, Stowers had a grand slam and double in Norfolk’s 14-8 victory over Lehigh Valley, the Tides’ only win in the six-game series.
In the Charlotte dugout: SS Colson Montgomery is regarded as the top prospect in the White Sox organization. Montgomery, a first-round draft pick (22nd overall) in 2021 out of Southridge High School in Huntingburg, Indiana, is batting .223 with 10 home runs this season with Charlotte.
