Dog days call for some polls. Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NBA. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Brooklyn Nets fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
The Brooklyn Nets head into this offseason with a lot of questions. The first big question was answered when they hired Jordi Fernandez to be the new head coach. Now, he and Nets management have to figure out what the roster will look like when the Nets return in the Fall of 2024.

In the starting lineup, the Nets have to figure out what to do in the middle. Nic Claxton was one of the few bright spots in a rough Nets season. His athleticism, intensity, and subtly increasing role on offense make him a player to keep an eye on as the Nets try to climb back to relevancy.
All signs point to Clax returning, but there have been questions as to how much the team should invest in their 2019 second round draft pick. What might play a role in this decision is the expected salary cap increase. The NBA is currently negotiating with ESPN, Amazon, NBC and TNT and the new deals are expected to be worth at least $7 billion a season. Nick Thoreson of Ducking the Tax took a look at the impact the new money will likely have on the cap
Here’s a quick look on, based off my calculations, the impact the new TV money (per Bloomberg) and the 10% cap smoothing will play going forward. Looking at six straight seasons of 10% salary cap growth. https://t.co/PP31sth82F pic.twitter.com/WLlK6NMTsy— Nick Thoreson (@DuckingTheTax) May 7, 2024
More money will certainly lead to more cap flexibility. We’ll see what the Nets decide to.
The Nets will also have to figure out which bench players to bring back. In the superteam era, the Nets weren’t the most athletic team in the league. With Dennis Smith Jr and Lonnie Walker IV, Brooklyn got more athletic in the backcourt and had visions of more attempts and success at the rim. The plan going into the year was for them to play a lot faster and get out in transition with Ben Simmons leading the way.
Safe to say, that didn’t work out.
Injuries to DSJ and Skywalker also didn’t help matters as only played 56 and 58 games respectively. As coach Fernandez looks to implement his vision in Brooklyn, will the two Nets reserves be a part of it?
