Nick Cannon Reveals Whether or Not He Wants More Kids and Says ‘I’m in Love Constantly’
Nick Cannon is a big believer in the power of manifestation. “You speak things into existence,” says the 44-year-old. “I always said I wanted 12 kids, and here we are!” The actor and host of VH1’s long-running improv series, Wild ’n Out, is dad to Moroccan and Monroe, 13, with ex-wife Mariah Carey; sons Golden, 7, and Rise, 2, and daughter Powerful, 3, with Brittany Bell; twin boys Zion and Zillion, 3, and daughter Beautiful, 23 months, with Abby De La Rosa; son Legendary, 2, with Bre Tiesi; and daughter Onyx, 2, with LaNisha Cole. He’s also father to daughter Halo, 23 months, and son Zen (who died at 5 months old in December 2021 after being diagnosed with brain cancer) with Alyssa Scott. Here, Nick talks to In Touch’s Lindsay Hoffman about fatherhood, his love life and his go-to karaoke song.
Do you think you manifested your huge family?
NC: Yeah. You speak life into your creative thoughts and they come to fruition. So I have to be careful what I say — I said I was going to manifest a lot of kids, and it actually happened.
How does fatherhood ground you?
NC: It helps you prioritize in the right areas and manage your bandwidth and your energy. Your kids are always number one.
Do you want more children?
NC: I think I’m done. You never know, though.
What’s your best coparenting tip?
NC: Open and honest communication, and know the children always come first. You have to be selfless.

Would you get married again?
NC: I doubt it. I’d love to be in love again. I’m in love constantly; I just think the legal contract of allowing the government to enter your love life is really strange.
Who’s your favorite Wild ‘n Out guest star?
NC: Everybody brings something. It’s always good when Kevin Hart stops by. He was in the pilot [episode] just as one of my friends when we rented out a comedy club. He’s a megastar now, [but he’s] never changed. We give each other s–t, there’s a constant prank war. He’ll show up and try to ruin stuff.
In 2012, you revealed you have lupus. How do you take care of yourself?
NC: I drink lots of water and try to [go to] the gym quite a bit. And I eat a clean diet. I’ve tried the trendy things, but landed on eating clean.

Where do you find the energy to do everything?
NC: I have a lot of passion. I wake up, and I’m so filled with gratitude that I get to take another shot at another day. I really thrive off of that.
How do you get through challenges?
NC: Lots of prayer and therapy probably more than anything. If you’re not growing, you’re dying. If you’re not learning, you’re not living. Every day I’m hoping I’m becoming a better person.
Where will you be in five years?
NC: Hopefully playing with my kids. Watching them continue to thrive.
