Ahead of the NFL’s Brazilian debut, Fox 29 Philadelphia news anchor Mike Jerrick, 74, made a bold suggestion to commemorate the Eagles’ trip.
Appearing on The Good Day After Show, Jerrick proposed he get a Brazilian wax on air.
And while he was taken aback when told the extent of such a wax, particularly by the fact it covers “front and back,” he decided, “I’ll do anything for the Eagles.”
On Friday’s broadcast of Good Day Philadelphia, the show’s producers had two waxers ready to go in the studio, along with a waxing table that was blocked from view of the cameras by a slim screen.
Jerrick, who was wearing an Eagles sweatshirt, then got undressed on air before laying down, all while his co-hosts Alex Holley and Karen Hepp did their best to avoid getting a full view.
The waxers eventually applied the soft wax, with Hepp helping by holding Jerrick’s legs in the air.
“Obrigado!” Jerrick yelled as the first strip came off.
This was followed by “Jeez! What? Why?” on the second.
As the segment drew on, and the strips came off one by one, Jerrick turned to yelling out names including his co-hosts, “Jalen Hurts,” and “Jason Kelce.”
Later, musicians and dancers were brought on behind Jerrick as his appointment continued, before inflatable goalposts were added between his legs to make the scene that much more bizarre.
Unsurprisingly, the segment rapidly went viral on X, drawing a plethora of responses from viewers.
“I’m an Eagles hater but I have to give credit here this is epic,” one said.
“He looks like he is having a baby,” joked a second.
“Poor Alex Holley. That view could ruin your weekend,” claimed another.
While a fourth simply asked, “How is this real?”
Jerrick won’t have to wait long to find out if unique his experience will be capped off with a Philly win.
The Eagles and Packers are scheduled to kick off at 8:25pm ET on Friday at the Corinthians Arena.
It will be available to watch on NBC in Philadelphia and Green Bay.
For those outside those areas, it can be streamed on subscription-based services Peacock, NFL+, and YouTube TV.
This will be just the second game in the 2024 season after the Kansas City Chiefs kicked off their pursuit of the first-ever Super Bowl three-peat with a 27-20 win against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday.
