Where do Penn State’s top 2026 targets rank in the updated On300?
Penn State head coach James Franklin and his staff will have much of its focus on the Class of 2025 in the coming weeks, but the Nittany Lions also find themselves in a good position with quite a few players who were named to the 2026 On300 on Monday.
Their lone commit at the moment, running back Messiah Mickens, held firm at No. 90 overall in the nation. Now at Harrisburg High School, Mickens is actually one of four players on the same team that made the cut, joining offensive lineman Kevin Brown, running back D’Antae Sheffey and wide receiver Elias Coke. Of those three, Brown is the one Penn State is currently recruiting the hardest. Just like with Mickens, his ranking of No. 28 nationally didn’t change.
Overall, 10 Pennsylvania prospects made the On300, with the latest addition being safety Joey O’Brien from La Salle College in Glenside. Listed at 6-foot-4, 180 pounds, O’Brien has been excellent at multiple 7-on-7 events this year. He recently visited Penn State in April and is now ranked No. 203 nationally. Neumann Goretti athlete Wydeek Collier also made a big jump, climbing over 100 spots from No. 261 nationally to No. 140.
Two other notable Penn State targets within Pennsylvania include Cumberland Valley offensive lineman Tyler Merrill, who dropped from No. 50 nationally to No. 76, and Imani Christian running back David Davis, down from No. 181 to 206.
Penn State also just hosted its top quarterback target in the 2026 class, Dia Bell, this past weekend. The Florida resident remained at No. 14 nationally and is the second-ranked quarterback behind North Carolina native Faizon Brandon.
