1 Missing, Multiple Families Displaced After 7-Alarm North Jersey Fire
PATERSON, NJ — A man is missing after a massive fire that broke out Sunday morning at an apartment building in Paterson, officials said. Paterson firefighters first responded to the blaze near the corner of Broadway and Straight Street at around 3 a.m. Sunday, according to a post from the fire department. Multiple other fire companies responded to help battle the blaze, which took about 12 hours to fully contain, per NJ.com. The mixed-use building at 195 Broadway had businesses on the ground floor and apartments upstairs. Officials said it was completely destroyed after the roof collapsed into the second floor. Mayor Andre Sayegh said a male resident was "unaccounted for" as of Sunday morning. There has not yet been an update on his whereabouts. No other injuries were reported. The American Red Cross - New Jersey Chapter said it is providing assistance to 12 people from seven families.
