Nice Mahi and Sea Bass Around

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6vBBlmXLcg

We had an absolutely beautiful day in and around Ocean City today and the forecast is calling for more of the same all week.  Get out and do some fishing!

Captain Chris Watkowski and his crew on Spring Mix II had a good day with a limit of mahi and a white marlin release.  If you'd like to get in on the action, Spring Mix has one opening on Wednesday for a make-up trip.  Give Captain Paul Lebling a buzz to get on board.

Reese Babikow, Matthew Brannan and Adam had a great time catching 16 mahi in the Poorman's Canyon.

Team Covered Up had a great White Marlin Open catching this 164 pound bigeye tuna that ended up being worth over $200,000.

Captain Will from Local Hooker Charters had a good day putting three keeper flounder in the boat along with several throwbacks.

Lamont Hilbert fished ocean structure today and landed one keeper flounder and some sea bass.

Big Bird Cropper was able to get Neighbor Dave out today and they had a great time Roy Rigging.  The guys had a double limit of bluefish, some rockfish action and some throwback flounder.

Captain Marc Spagnola enjoyed the best weather he's seen this year and put his folks on some great shooting for rays at the same time.

Mike and Mario Marisa had a nice day on the south jetty today putting five keeper flounder in the boat up to 20" on flounder belly and Gulp.

Anglers fishing with Captain Chase Eberle on Chasin' Tides Charters have had success both inshore trolling and inshore shark fishing with some big sand tigers being caught and released.

Captain Nick Sampson of MobSquad had some good fishing today with shark releases, some sea bass and a few mahi.

Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler reported a slowish bite, but there were some quality mahi, flounder and sea bass that came over the rail.

Anglers fishing with Captain Monty Hawkins on the Morning Star enjoyed some awesome conditions and some good fishing.

Now that was a gorgeous day. Even saw a seventeen or eighteen-some foot greenland shark on the surface. Had nooooo business being here - but there he was. Last one I saw was bigger still; every bit of 20 feet across the stern of the old wooden Angler's 21 ft beam in 1981. Know what? It could have been the same shark. Unlikely certainly; but scientists believe they may live to 500 years of age!

Well, dern sure not a great bite today, but a perfect day to have 3/4 of your clients under 12.
We enjoyed Beaufort Force 0 winds (where smoke from chimneys rises vertically as opposed to chimney tops blowing off in Force 12 - it Googles) Those youngsters enjoyed a smoother ride off to an artificial reef site than many of my regular clients have ever known.
A charter today; they wanted to set some reef pyramids (these from Bear Materials.) We did three sets of two pyramids each with bamboo attached and deployed them at my mother's reef.
The hope w/bamboo is that young of year sea bass will make use of the extra cover as they move offshore for the first time. There's certainly not enough deployed to make a difference this year; but, if I see an inordinate amout of tiny cbass using them in October, I'll know to work harder next year.
Underway again we soon found a piece of flotsam with a good school of young mahi and buoy jacks - we would see more mahi too
..and never get a bite!
Oyyy!!
Sea Bass?
Yes.
Thank Goodness They Bit A Little!
Despite a preponderance of ebullient youth who, in most cases, are nearly certain to win the pool; Heath took the fish pool instead with a 21 inch dandy and was high hook too.

Had a great time in the OP Flounder Tournament last week....Check it out!!
