Police Chase Of Stolen Semi-Truck Ends In Cobb Crash: WATCH
MARIETTA, GA — Cobb County Police have released video footage of officers chasing a stolen bobtail semi-tractor-trailer, which subsequently crashed into a home's gate, in West Cobb.The compiled dash camera and body camera footage was released Tuesday on CCPD's Facebook page. It shows officers responding to the tractor-trailer being recklessly driven on June 24 in the area of Ernest Barrett Parkway, police said.Officers received several 911 calls about the truck nearly crashing into other vehicles, jeopardizing the safety of other people, police said."The public was at serious risk, and officers from Precinct 5 weren’t about to let that slide," police said in the post.One of the officers saw the tractor-trailer driving along Dallas Highway, and when they tried to conduct a traffic stop, police said the driver fled the scene and drove onto the northbound and southbound lanes of Barrett. The nearly 3-minute police footage appeared to show officers chasing the tractor-trailer as it crossed lanes multiple times before ultimately crashing through a gate."Turns out the truck was stolen. The driver now faces a long list of charges," police said. At the time, the owner of the home near where the truck crashed told WSB-TV the accident happened on the other side of his mother-in-law's bedroom.“Thank God no one was hurt,” homeowner Jim Boyland told WSB-TV. “No damage to our A/C units in 100-degree temperatures and no damage to our home.”The driver was not identified, and police did not detail the charges against the driver.ALSO SEE: Get The Latest Local News (For Free!)
