5-star OT Michael Fasusi is moving towards his commitment and preparing for a ‘hard decision’

It has been a busy spring for Lewisville (Texas) five-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi. Over the past few months, the 6-foot-4.5, 285-pound recruit has been to Texas A&M three times, Missouri twice and Georgia, Oklahoma, Oregon and Texas once each.
Fasusi is set for more trips, as he has locked in officials with Missouri (May 31-June 2), Texas A&M (June 7-9), Oklahoma (June 14-16) and Texas (June 21-23). He may add more official visits in the future and is also taking an unofficial to LSU from May 22-23.
“I’m at that point where it’s really hard to pick a school,” Fasusi told On3. “There are pros and cons to each school. It is for sure going to be a hard decision. I’ve dropped my top seven and I think I could release a top four or a top six next.”
Fasusi knows what matters most to him
Fasusi, who wants to announce his commitment in August or sometime before his senior season starts, is feeling good about his interest in Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas and Texas A&M, as well as Georgia and Oregon. The No. 6 player in Texas is also looking forward to seeing LSU for the first time later this month.
Official visits are going to be “big” for Fasusi, as he is going to spend multiple days around a program and learn more about its coaching staff. When Fasusi eventually reveals his college destination, he wants to be going to a school where both he and his family are comfortable.
“The deciding factor for me is development,” said Fasusi, the No. 18 overall prospect and No. 4 offensive tackle in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. “… Seeing guys go in the first round motivates me. That opened my eyes, so I want to be at the best place where I can be developed. I am looking at a school’s brotherhood and education as well.”
Missouri surprised Fasusi
“When I took my first visit there, I didn’t realize I was going to have such a great time. I got to learn and see what they’re all about. I’m really glad I took that visit and I’m very glad that Missouri is on my list. They show a lot of love.
“Coach Brandon Jones does a great job of building our relationship. Coach Eliah Drinkwitz, coach Curtis Luper and everybody on that coaching staff are doing a great job recruiting me as well. They were here to see me recently to watch me practice. It was great having those guys here.”
Bedenbaugh has Oklahoma is this race
“I have a great bond with coach Bill Bedenbaugh. If you’re talking about an o-line guru who can develop guys for the league, coach B is definitely one of the guys you can look at. He’s helped send guys like Tyler Guyton and Walter Rouse to the league. He is for sure one of the best in the game. Also, I love coach Brent Venables and my parents love him. He is a great coach. From talking with my teammates that are up there and my friends that are up there at OU, coach Venables does things the right way.”
Fasusi could visit Oregon again
“I want to check out Oregon more because when I was up there, I loved it. They had a great vibe there and there was a lot of energy. I got to meet all the coaches and watch them practice. I loved what I saw up there.”
The in-state schools want to keep Fasusi at home
Texas: “I love the feeling at Texas. I grew up in the state. I get that home feeling and it’s always comfortable when I go up there. There are no bad feelings when I am there. I really get along with coach Kyle Flood and coach Steve Sarkisian. Those are my guys.
“Coach Flood has for sure, 1,000%, made me a better football player. Seeing what he teaches his guys and seeing the numbers his guys have put up at Alabama and Texas, he’s done a great job. I love coach Flood. He’s one of the best o-line coaches I know. With coach Sark, what he’s brought to Texas is unbelievable.”
Texas A&M: “Having coach Mike Elko there is big for me. He is for sure one of the best head coaches that I’ve ever talked to.”
“It starts with coach Elko,” he added. “He’s an honest man. If you ask him any question, he’s going to keep it real with you. He’s not the type of guy that will lie to you. You can ask some other recruits about this and they will tell you the same thing. I feel like that is part of the reason why a lot of guys are committing to him.
“Him being that type of coach is for sure why he is someone that I could see myself playing for. Coach Adam Cushing is one of the best o-line coaches I know. We’ve watched film a number of times and he’s showed me things that help me improve my game and perfect my craft. The coaching staff is amazing.”
