‘You battered her!’ Family horrified by ‘disgusting’ Joel’s Coronation Street murder

Joel Deering was recently confirmed to be Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) killer in a huge Coronation Street twist – but no one was more surprised than Joel actor Calum Lill’s grandma.
Calum’s grandma is a huge fan of the show, and he has previously revealed how invested she is in Joel’s relationship with Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) by posting screenshots of their text chats which showed her urging him to be nice to Dee-Dee when it was revealed that Joel was already married.
Naturally, Calum found it tough to keep the huge twist of Lauren’s real killer a secret from her and the rest of his family, as he explained.
‘It has been difficult – even my family don’t know, they will have found out at the same time as the viewers. I don’t think they were suspicious as they probably didn’t think I could play an evil character like Joel.

‘I was having Sunday dinner with my family a couple of weeks ago, and they were all talking about their own theories of who they think it is. And every one of them has got a different one and not one of them thinks it is Joel.
‘They have not been suspicious of me at all. They were aware that some people were suspicious online but believed me!’
When asked how he thought his grandma would react, he laughed and said: ‘I don’t know but I am going to try and watch it with her, it will be like watching a horror film, she will lose her mind, she might call the police, she will want to ring Dee-Dee.

‘She has known my girlfriend for four years but she is very invested in Joel and Dee-Dee.’
Well, thankfully, Calum and his grandma did manage to sit down and watch the big reveal together – and he filmed her reaction!
Taking to TikTok, Calum shared the candid video of his grandma’s reaction, and it was safe to say she was pretty shocked!
‘You mean to tell me my grandson’s a killer?’ She said, as the credits rolled. ‘You battered her! I can’t believe that!’

The video soon went viral, having been watched over five million times, with fans in stitches at Calum’s grandma’s reaction.
‘She looked at you like it was CCTV footage of real life events,’ Kels said, with a number of laughing emojis.
‘Granny turned around like she was next,’ another fan said, while Stace pointed out that, ‘she’s not angry, she’s just disappointed.’
