Brooklyn Nets, New York Liberty park monster trucks at Barclays as part of cross promotion
Why are two monster trucks in Nets, Liberty livery parked at Barclays Center? We explain. It is the summer of cross-marketing for the Brooklyn Nets, New York Liberty and Barclays Center. Players show up at concerts. Artists show up at Liberty games, etc. and Jason Sudeikis is EVERYWHERE ... But this one is BIG.
In anticipation of a Hot Wheels Monster Truck show at the end of the month, Barclays Center unveiled two locally-themed entries, one dressed in black-and-white for the Brooklyn Nets, the other in seafoam-and-black for the New York Liberty. Both were designed in-house by the BSE Global creative team which does everything from designing team logos to “characterfying” Ellie the Elephant and now rolling out monster trucks.
As part of the promotion for the big September 28 show, the two trucks are currently parked on the Barclays Center entrance plaza this week as PIX11 News reported Thursday.
“It’s a loud show,” Corey Humpage, Vice President, Entertainment at Barclays Center told PIX. “It’s lots of bright lights. It’s trucks flying through the air. It’s trucks doing donuts. It’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before.”
The event will reportedly also introduce the new HW 5-Alarm™, the firetruck hero of Hot Wheels Monster Trucks. I’m no truck expert and my Hot Wheels have been collecting dust in my mother’s attic for years now, but if I had to guess, I’d say that’s the Nic Claxton of vehicles at this event which has the ability to extinguish and suffocate opposing scorers like firefighters to a flame.
The two shows on September 28 — at 12:30 p.m. ET and 7:30 p.m. ET — will come during the WNBA playoffs where the Liberty should have homecourt advantage throughout. Maybe roll the Liberty truck again then.
That won’t be the only time over next few months where hoops overlaps with dirt and diesel. Monster Jam has events scheduled at Barclays Center from January 31 to February 2, 2025. The Nets will be in Charlotte and Houston while the trucks house-sit for them.
