Talkin' BaseballESPN analyst Karl Ravech said they were the best thing to happen to baseball[/caption]
Ravech mostly mentioned the pitch clock, which only gives pitchers around 20 seconds to deliver the ball.
He claimed it was one of the best things to happen to baseball adding that rule.
“I think the pitch clock is universally the greatest thing ever,” Ravech said
“I just went and did a college baseball game… they have a pitch clock that helps immensely.”
Ravech explained that he went to watch a college baseball game where those rules aren’t in effect.
He said the viewing experience was so much worse than watching a MLB game.
“They don’t have the one batter minimum and the number of mound visits, it was literally like someone came up to me and slapped me in the face like ‘remember?'” Ravech said.
“They need to bring those rules to the college game because I think they’re great for the pace of play at the major league level.”
Fans shared their opinions on the pitch clock in response to Ravech’s praise of it.
“I genuinely HATED the pitch clock when it was first implemented. I was on the front lines of hating on it,” one fan said.
“After letting it marinate for over a year I can honestly say it is EXACTLY what the league needed.”
“To be fair, i like the pitch clock when watching the games on streams. I absolutely hate it when I actually go to the games,” another fan said.
“Love the pitch clock and love they took out the ridiculous windups,” a third fan said.
“Best thing about pitch clock is the batters can’t call time every pitch walk all the way to the dug out take 10 swings and ask for sign 20 times before they step in box,” a fourth fan said.
After the MLB implemented the pitch clock, game times went down drastically.
The average game time has dropped by about 30 minutes from three hours and eight minutes in 2022 to two hours and 38 minutes.
MLB also implement other rules, such as increasing the size of the bases to encourage more stealing.
All of the changes has increased scoring in MLB, a much needed change for the league.
